Ahhh, more simplification...at some point here, there won't be any function left with all the simplification going on...

Remember when only students used FaceBook? Now the only person I know who still thinks it's relevant is my mother. Oh irony, you're delicious even without maple syrup.

@ leftnotracks ----Yeah, I let it go after graduation. It's not the same. It was fun & relevant when it was just for student. It's becoming Friendster.

If people wanted twitter, they would get twitter. Everytime facebook changes to be more like twitter, people don't like the changes.

Now if they only had a setting that would allow me to block ALL news items from the home page when a person takes one of those stupid "quizzes". Seriously, I don't care what Disney character you are more like. You can hide these stories individually, but the problem is there isn't a global setting for all of them. As soon as you hide one, 10 more new quizzes show up.

A "block all applications" setting would be immensely helpful too. "Humphrey sent you an XYZ. Would you like to send one too?". NO. A thousand times NO.

Not sure it will prevent some people to willfully expose lots of personal information...

Consolidation of all privacy settings into one coherent interface will be a welcome change. Facebook does allow users to tweak their settings in very detailed ways, but it's not intuitively obvious where the controls can be found or what the results will be.
@ leftnotracks, Sigil -- maybe someday you'll both grow up enough to simply use technology to do the things you want to do and not worry about who else is using it. Whether it's Myspace or facebook, or twitter, and whatever replaces them as the latest thing, they're all just communication tools. They aren't inherently any cooler than usenet, email, the telephone, the telegraph, or the Pony Express. Get over yourselves.

This is probably a GOOD thing:

If people don’t feel they fully understand how to establish access settings to their profile content, they will not post and share as much as they would otherwise, Kelly said.

I hate the new changes facebook keeps coming, they're trying too much to be like twitter- and linkedin, they call friends 'connections now'
why can't facebook just be FACEBOOK, not twitter, not linkedin, but FACEBOOK

If they get rid of regional networks and make everyone include people outside of Facebook, people may opt to be visible only to friends. People may not want their Facebook stuff to show up on Google.
They should quit trying to be twitter and concentrate on making Facebook better for Facebook users.
