I have a Power Book g4 with a USB 1.0 port. I had no trouble syncing my iPhone and iPod to iTunes. But since I have upgraded to iTunes 8, it will no longer sync. Alas, the Apple page never mentioned that a person needs USB 2.0. So, now I would either like some kind of "work around" or what I think needs to happen is to reinstall 7.
I can download 7 from the Apple web site, but when I tried that, I got an error message telling me that it can not read my libraries since they were created in a later version.
So, how do I move my media out, delete iTunes, reinstall the old version and then move the media back so that I have access to all my media?
I am running 10.5.7. I have Time Machine back ups and a back up of the hard drive thanks to Carbon Copy.
Any thoughts?
Alan

Sounds like you have iTunes 7 already installed and it just can't read the library written by iTunes 8.
What you can do is delete your current library and keep all of your music on your hard drive. Then launch 7 and ask it to rebuild libraries.
But you may even be able to keep from doing that step.
Go to User>Library>Music>iTunes
In there is a folder with all of your music as well as the iTunes library database.
It may also have a folder with Previous iTunes libraries.
Since you have a backup you can do some playing.
First try deleting the iTunes Library on the top level. That should be the one created by iTunes 8.
You should now be able to launch 7 and let it find the music on your hard drive and rebuild it's own library.
Now, you may (stressing the may) be able to take one of older iTunes libraries that was created by 7 and rename it the same as the original library you deleted and put it in it's place to see if iTunes recognizes it, but it will probably need to rebuild it's own.
