A couple of days ago, my TV was nice enough to inform me an update was available download. Without checking, I installed it and found there were some nice improvements, including support for 1080p resolution and stretching to fit our 16x9 format screen.
The 16x9 stretch is a nice improvement, but some of the older movies of mine that I had encoded were at a 2x3 ratio and tend to lag and skip, no matter how long I let it buffer. I assume this is due to a graphics card that can't keep up with the minute scaling between the two formats and upscaling it for my TV.
Is there any way to disable this ratio scaling? This is a lower quality encoding, so you wouldn't think it would be too hard for the TV to handle, but my highest quality videos give the TV no problem whatsoever.
If scaling isn't the issue, anyone have any guesses what the problem might be?

TV - Firmware Update Issues

My TV is a 42" 1080p Phillips with a 60Hz refresh rate. The TV in this case is, however, irrelevant. I didn't have the skipping issues before with these movies, and now I do after the update, no matter if I am using the 720p setting it was on before or if I move to the new 1080p setting. (The TV does a better job of smoothly upscaling 480p DVD quality movies.)
I'm just looking for a setting on the TV that would allow me to not stretch the video to fit the 16x9 aspect ratio. I figure that will take care of the problem nicely. Anyone know how to make that happen?
