Help! I have 'lost' the miniwindow in iMail for the speller: however I set the spelling to check, it does not reappear so I can no longer change the language at all. I have, of course, restarted iMail, restarted the mac etc., searched for a solution on the net. Can anyone give me a clue please?

By iMail I'm assuming you mean Mail, there is no 'iMail'

Go to Edit>spelling and grammar> show spelling and grammar

that should work

Thanks for the suggestion but in Mail under Edit I have 'spelling' (no grammar) and no option for 'show spelling and grammar'. :-(

There is no tiger forum, this is the mac os x forum, about mac os x in general, this includes mostly people with leopard, then some with tiger and panther. However, in the core essentials, not much has changed in mail since 2.0, besides flashy features and RSS (??? no idea why they put that there).
What options do you have under spelling?

Options I have are only 'spelling' and 'check spelling' (on send, as you type etc.) nothing mentioning language at all....that option was in the little window that is now missing. Mystery....

oh, and check spelling too, try them both.

'Spelling' just highlights words needing to be corrected and 'check spelling' gives me the usual options of 'when I send' or 'as I type'. No language selection or spelling window in sight
