Good news. Hopefully a win-win agreement can be reached again in 2015.

I agree. I love Pandora! I don't come close to using their service for 40 hours a month, but I'll probably buy their Pandora One service for $36/year.

Another nail in the coffin to 99 per cent of musicians and artists who will earn the obligatory 0.001penny per listen compared to the a la carte model. If any musician makes more than a couple of bucks per month (total) out of this, they'll be doing well.
Make NO mistake, the ONLY people making money from this are the streaming websites.

I'm only familiar with Pandora (just upgraded, too!), but their business model makes it easy for listeners to purchase music they like at Amazon and iTunes Store. And because it builds playlists of artists that are similar to artists you already like, it exposes you to music you might not have heard otherwise. Their streaming service definitely helps put cash in artists' pockets.

Yes, I'm sure the streaming sites are raking in the money from their mostly free streaming services, on top of having to pay 25% or more of their revenues to the RIAA. And, of course the artists are making tons of money off of radio broadcasts of their music which pays, ummm, how much exactly? Zero? For a lot more listeners? And, of course, the artists' deals with their recording companies have nothing to do with how much they make. And, also, wider exposure to the artists' music never turns into bigger sales.

But, of course, it's the streaming sites who are the badguys here.
