I don't get the review ratings. A fairly bad writeup and still 3 and 1/2 stars? What eactly are you reserving 0, 1 and 2 star reviews for? Has Macworld ever given any product anything less than 3 stars? Just wondering.

Yes.

Just yesterday Mass Effect Galaxy got a 2.5 mouse rating. Our Twitter round-up had three apps with sub-3 mouse ratings. This app got a two-mouse review. That's just in the past 36 hours or so.

Now as to why Dig Dug Remix got 3.5 mice, I can't speak for the author. But if I were to guess, it would be that the game is playable, and perhaps even enjoyable depending on how much you like Dig Dug. My guess is that he was expecting a more polished result from a company with Namco's pedigree -- thus, the negative tone for what the reviewer probably considered to be a generally acceptable game. Just my guess, though.

NAMCO has cornered the market on bad controls... much as i want to buy galaga and dig-dug, the controls suck so badly i just won't on principle. and while the centipede port (is that namco's also?) has great controls, the app is so buggy and prone to slowdowns and general gameplay-borking that i can't stand to play it anymore. way to go guys, you'd think getting a nearly 30-year-old ROM to play on an iphone would be easy-peasy, but somehow you still managed to inject your own special suck-factor.
every old-school gamer should grab vector tanks, however. that game kicks ass and the developer is still working to make it better. cheers to him.
