Slow on the news uptake, aren't you. The nVidia 285 drivers still have dreadful issues and are far, far from optimised.

Macrumors is reporting that GTX285 users who don't update their drivers before updating to 10.5.8 will have a system hang. The question is since 10.5.8 is still in beta, can't Apple just incorporate this new driver into the OS like all the other nVidia drivers? Otherwise it's almost certain that a bunch of users will forget to update and get stuck. Or what happens to future 10.5.8 users who want to get a GTX285?

What are you talking about? You have to have the driver update before 10.5.8 hits, which by all indicators is coming soon, and you think it's not news?

Yeah, people's computers not working after an OS update, that is very preventable via this warning, is not news eh?

The question is since 10.5.8 is still in beta, why doesn't Apple incorporate this driver so the whole potential system hand issue is prevented?

It is old news that one has to install these drivers before the nVidia card will even begin to work in 10.5.7, so having to install them before 10.5.8 arrives is no different. The drivers pointed to, and currently available, on nVidia's Driver Download page are rubbish anyway! These drivers are over one month old and Apple have quite rightly disassociated their OS from the consequences of installing them.
