Hi Mac 911,

I recently bought an original iMac flat screen (Apple G4/800MHz 17" iMac 512/80GB SuperDrive), which I believe came out in 2002. It's been upgraded to an OS 10.4.7, which nearly matches my more modern iMac, and I'm using it in my summer getaway in the woods. I utterly love it, nearly as much as I love my 10.4.11 one I'm using at home.

However, it doesn't have a camera, and the Webcam I've found online that I want states I have to have a USB 2.0 port. It won't work on a USB 1.0 port. I've looked through the manual, and there's nothing at all that states whether the USB port is 1.0 or 2.0.

Is there anyone out there in Mac 911land who knows whether this model has a USB 2.0 port?
Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.]

USB 2.0 came out in 2000, this would definitely have one, USB 1.0 is ancient technology.

Click on the Apple in the upper left corner of the screen and select About this Mac.

Then click the More Info tab.

Under the info should be USB. Click on that and it should tell you whether the bus is USB2.0 or 1.0.

Thanks so much for your quick response. Your info is good to know. It's a week before I can get up to the woods (and the computer) to check for sure, but I'm really hopeful since reading your post. Thanx!

I bet every user knew this but me -- how to get info on one's computer.
Now I have to wait a week before I'm up in the woods again (and with the computer). But I sure appreciate knowing this. To the both of you, thanks so much for helping me. This is exactly what I needed to know! Take a bow!
