Cmd-K just mounts another volume available on the network. It doesn't share that Mac's screen.

JollysFastVNC has been my screen sharing client of choice for a while now. I like it better than OSX's built-in screen sharing app.
The latest revision to Jollys adds an "immersive" keyboard mode that attempts to map all keys to the remote machine -- including COMMAND-TAB (which I use 500 times a day).
That feature is not currently working 100% reliably as of this very moment, but the developer is working on it.

It turns out the solution to the above is to make sure that the option "Enable access for assistive devices" is checked on in the Universal Access control panel.
When that's on, immersive keyboard mode works superbly.
If you use VNC/screen sharing regularly, you should give JollysFastVNC a try.

I'm confused. Don't other machines that are available for screen sharing on the local network (and mobileMe) show up in the sidebar of all finder windows under the "shared" category? I'm not sure what the point of this menulet would be....short of saving you the time of opening a finder window.
