Review: Tweetie for Mac

Hmm, I actually prefer the lack of a number badge. I just want to know that something—a new tweet, a mention, a direct message—has been made.
Putting a number on it, as is common practice with other Twitter clients like Twitterific, in addition to email clients like Mail and RSS readers like NetNewsWire, turns it into a chore. When I used to use Twitterific, I would often say to myself, 'oh, 20 new tweets!?' I don't see why they couldn't make it an option, though.
My biggest annoyance with Tweetie for Mac is the inability to browse who other people are following and/or their followers within the app; both actions require opening a web browser. The inability to delete your tweets from within Tweetie is perplexing as well.

A minor annoyance is the invisible scroll bar...very un-Mac-like and surprising considering how well the rest of the UI is thought out and executed. It's minimalism carried to an extreme.
Still, it's my Twitter client of choice, both on the desktop and iPhone.

The space bar, shift-space bar is absolutely intuitive. Think browsers, Mail.app, and many of Apple's own and third-party apps that use this keyboard shortcut to scroll a page.

Keyboard shortcuts are fine, but not everyone uses them. If scroll bars are provided, they should be visible.

esiefmu,
To clarify, my comment was about the page (content in view at any given time) scroll feature provided by pressing the space bar to go down or shift-space to go up. I was not making a comment about the scroll bar.
Though, I'll confess to some confusion, because I see a scroll bar or the equivalent thereof at all times on the right side of the window.

Sorry; I misunderstood your comment. I do wonder why I'm not seeing the scroll bar (I'm running OS 10.5.8 & version 1.2.2 of Tweetie).
Well, let me clarify what I'm not seeing (if that makes sense). I have a scroll bar, just not the vertical channel that should extend the length of the page. So I can click-and-drag to scroll the page, but I can't accurately click a specific spot on the page to jump to that point.
Dang, that probably doesn't help at all. And, in any event, it's not really a huge deal.

I have the same set up. In case it's useful, I see a dark gray capsule on the right side of the window. If I press and hold on it, I can scroll up and down. I can also, however, click anywhere in the light gray area above or below the capsule and contents scroll to that point, which seems different than your experience.

It's counterintuitive in that the space bar is the only way to page up/down. Yes, in a browser, you can use space and shift+space, but the Page Up and Page Down keys work as expected. Tweetie's lack of support for those keys is very, very odd.

I love Tweetie. I just wish that the highlight for a selected tweet were easier to see. It just looks ugly, and is not very clear. The scroll bar, however, doesn't bother me. I guess I'm just used to it. But it's simple, full-featured, easy to use, well-designed, and fun to use.
