We're experimenting with a Wiki! And you can help.

Here are the first two pages we've created.

- Snow Leopard Compatibility

- Snow Leopard Glitches and Gripes

Macworld editors are in there, but you can edit and add information as well as we can. So if you're interested, give it a try. By being logged in here, you should be logged in there.

FWIW, I'm logged in here but can't log into the wiki page and therefore can't edit the page.

That great new feature of OS X 10.6, text replacement, that allows you to have lots of text replacements and corrections available across the system, seems to have a problem with f-words. And not just obscene ones, mind you: it doesn’t like all words beginning with the sixth letter of the English alphabet. Go to the text replacement panel (Preferences>Languages and Text> Text) and add to the list, for example that “french” should be replaced with “French” or “france” with “France” or “freud” with “Freud” and it will ignore you (unless the word is in quotations, in which case the correction is made). I tried various f-words and all showed the same problem. Put another letter at the beginning and it works: the system has no problem replacing “bfrance” with “France”. I have not tested the whole alphabet, but only words that begin with “f" seem to have this weird problem.

Has anybody noticed similar problems? Or is it a problem with my computer?

I can edit the Wiki, but I'd like to get confirmation that the SL issue I'm having doesn't have a known fix. I'm experiencing frequent crashes with important programs like Word 2008, Entourage 2008 and Mail. The problems are related to file attachments. I found a discussion that does a fairly good job of describing the problem. I've tried eliminating duplicate fonts and doing a clean install of SL but it hasn't fixed the problem. Crash, crash, crash all day long. I'm bitterly disappointed in SL.

For anyone monitoring this comment list, wanted to let you know I got this solved. I worked with Applecare. I had to do a full wipe and fresh install of Snow Leopard. I had tried that before but screwed it up -- DO NOT use migration assistant after doing the fresh install. You need to pull your files and applications over manually. If you have Applecare available, use it. They rock.

iDVD 7.0.4 launches just fine in SL on my iMacs.

ClamX AV is now at 2.0.3 - probably need to upgrade for compatibility.

Gripe: No USB 3.0 compatibility. I know 10.6.0 wouldn't have it, but you'd think 10.6.5 would have it (USB 3.0 was out well before that release).

i am content without it.

FW-800 currently... and will move to the faster when it's released. and still... long haul data transfers... FW wins again.

Try finding Firewire Harddrives! I've looked locally only saw USB (bestbuy used to have firewire). I'd rather not pay shipping and sales tax when I can just pay sales tax (most the non-fly by night shippers now charge sales tax).

I checked it out but there is no section for Lion. Is it OK if I add one?
