Would the individual program keys be needed with "erase and install"?

You regained 30 GB of HD space because the HD space is being counted differently...

I'm thinking of doing the erase & install method.
Will I need to install Lep first or will it install straight from the SnoLep DVD?

Thanks for the info about the upgrade disc being a full version! I'd heard otherwise and was about to install Leopard again just so I could upgrade and have a fresh OS. Now I'm just going to wait for Snow Leopard to arrive later this afternoon and be done with it.

Great article, as always!

well ... at least the incompatible software list is small

but ... boo ... i'm still using Parallels 3.0 .... gonna have to wait at work to upgrade

from parallels knowledge base re: P3 + Snow Leopard:
"Parallels Desktop 3 (builds 5638, 5626 and lower) can not be installed on Snow Leopard Host operating system. We will provide special build for Parallels Desktop 3 to be installed on Snow Leopard in the next few days."

I'll have to wait for an update .. or just get my boss to shell out the $50 for the upgrade to 4.0

boo ... don't want to wait ... *really* looking forward to the new Spotlight fixes (and other things)

Sigh. He did not regain any hard drive space. He has exactly the same amount as before. It's just measured in base 10 now instead of base 2. Troy vs. avoirdupois ounces. You know, that concept. The one that so few people seem to be able to wrap their brains around it is amazing.

yay ... I'm going to gain 87 more hogsheads on my disk drives !!

... or was it pecks?

for some reason the whole, silly confusion with the HD space reminds me of one of my favorite quotes from Brazil:

+Bill - Dept. of Works:+ Mistakes? We don't make mistakes. (too-small plug falls through hole in floor)
+Charlie, Department of Works:+ Bloody typical, they've gone back to metric without telling us.

Someone needs to fix the links to the Apple KB.

Someone put a "p" in the addresses instead of a "b", ie ".../kp/..." instead of the correct ".../kb/..."

ahhh but do we still have to unplug our external drives lest they be corrupted? That nightmare from past Upgrades has left me as nervous as a [censored] in church when it comes to installing the Mac OS.

On a funny aside, today marks the end of PPC with the first Mac OS strictly made for Intel processors. Here I am spending the day resurrecting an old Dual Boot machine to run OS 9 natively and OS X.4.11 natively for old software we have which does not run or run properly properly under 10.5/Intel.

All hail Craigslist and the $25 iMac DV
