To me the Flip Mino looked best, but you can't beat the nano for having a video camera added to a great music player, for free. It's another winner for Apple.

One of the advantages with the iPhone 3GS video recorder is that you can alter both the focus AND exposure by tapping on the subject of interest. For exposure control this can make a very big difference because you can often brighten or darken the video by selecting a new focus/exposure area in the frame. The only problem is that the focus and exposure is NOT locked while you pan the camera, this should definitely be an option on the iPhone's video camera (focus/exposure lock). However, I suspect that for a static subject/shot like used in the above tests the iPhone's exposure control could have been used to brighten the image if the exposure was taken more toward the dark half of the subject.

IPod Nano is the biggest gift from apple.
I think it is one of the best product they had delivered.

By my estimation, the Kodak Zi8 dominated. Perhaps this is how they were uploaded, but it wasn't close. Yet for the price of the nano, the video is kind of great.

Was there a reason for choosing as your video test subject a scene that is dominated by a solid black table and a plain white wall???

I don't know if it's just my eyes but to me the iPod Nano killed the Flip Mino but clearly the Kodak dominated.

Wow, that low-light stuff was horrible, but to be expected I guess. Nice that it's got a wider-angle lens than the others.

Except that the 5310 only takes tiny little very fuzzy videos, can not play videos on its much smaller screen (at least it is not listed in this review) and is limited to 2GB via a not included miniSD card.

I believe you can turn the Nano so that the lens is out of the way of your finger, and that it will automatically orient the video the correct way.

Say what?? You can control exposure and focus with the video G3? How can I do that? I tried tapping on the frame??

Yep, as noted in my review you can stand the nano on its head and it will orient the video in the proper way.

If your primary desire is a pocket camera, the Flip and the Kodak put the Nano and iPhone to shame. I didn't even realize there was a train station in the video because the lighting and detail were so poor in the Nano video. In the flip video, the lighting is correct, and you can see the train station and the train is much more detailed.

An excellent review confirming that the camera in the Nano doesn't compare to the other micro cameras out there.
