i just downloaded the latest version of quicktime, and now whenever i try to open a jpeg i get an error message that say quicktime "couldn't display "x" because a suitable decompressor could not be opened". This only happens with pictures over about 100Kb, and if I try to open the picture again, right away, it will open, however if I then go to another program and then come back it will give me the message again. I just tried increasing the ram for picture viewer up to 10MB, but that didn't help. Does anyone have any ideas as to whats wrong, and how i could fix it.

Hi Grover,

look in the Quick Time preferences folder (in the System pref folder) and trash the JPEG updater. Should do the trick!

Hope this helps

I looked and the only Quick time preference thing I found was i file that can't be opened because it can't find the program that created it. I can't believe i forgot to add that I am running system 8.5.1.
