Let's not forget about that dreaded sales tax, especially in CA. Amazon offers free shipping and no sales tax. Since the article also mentions the benefit of free shipping from Apple's online store, you might as well save hundreds on a Mac by getting it from Amazon.

WZZZ

On your frequency and did the decoding...

The new iMac 27" quad processor (i5/i7) will be available Nov 28th, but the i7 with hyperthreading will not feature a 1366 socket as does the Mac Pro, but the 1156 socket instead (no surprise here, why cannibalize the Mac Pro sales?).

I do not however buy the MacTablet stuff at the end, even if you did repeat it twice (for emphasis?).

Actually not those of us in NY - we have to pay tax when buying from Amazon so it doesn't really make a difference

Wouldn't it be nice to go into a retail store and find employees are better-dressed than you? I mean, really, T-shirt and jeans? How Gen X/Y/Z.

Whatever happened to class?

Amazon does not offer Build to Order though, so I could never order a computer from Amazon.

NY imposed an online sales tax a while back (Amazon HQ is in Seattle)

EVERYONE has to pay sales tax, if their state has sales tax, even if the retailer doesn't collect it. It's on your income tax return.

NY was one of several states that have gotten national retailers to collect sales tax for their state. They consider the Amazon affiliates in the state to be a retail presence. Amazon has a distribution warehouse in Texas which was able to get the tax collected.
