Was the OCR software included with the scanner?

I have owned one of these for several months and think its great, with one important qualifier.
It’s a strange thing that happens when you find a great solution to a problem only to find that this solution is not the be all and end all to all solutions. While this is a great system for almost every application I find that scanning pictures requires a reconsideration.
What I find is that because the image moves past the scanning slit any lint or dust of any kind that is on the glass that covers that slit creates a large or small line from top to bottom of that picture. I am obsessive with cleaning that glass but its hit or miss, with a lot of miss no matter how crazy you are at cleaning. What I have learned is that there is a real role for the flat bed type scanner where the scanning devise moves and the image your scanning stays put.

I found it was excellent for scanning in manuscripts with an eye towards OCR. I recently had to do a few thousand double-sided pages, and it did a wonderful job.
MacTechAspen, I think it does come with a "lite" version of some OCR software, but I already had a full version of iris Pro, so I've been using that.

Based on the various reviews I'd read, I've bought this Epson rather than one of its competitors. I am now however slightly regretting this decision: the scanner seems greatly let down by its software, which feels like a clunky Windows port.
In addition, sadly, the mac version of the software can't make searchable PDFs.

I just purchased the Epson GT-S50 scanner. I want to set up different files or accounts.
Example: I want to set up a file for tricare statements and be able to add additional statements to this file as I receive them. How do i ste up this file and others in order to do this?
