Had the Visioneer the first time round on 8.6, the idea was great, the product okay, the software middling and the support apathetic.
I've heard the future fixes and upgrade promises many times before. You'd have thought they would relaunch with a robust product and software package. Apparently not.
No way I'd pass them my money again - not even for nostalgia.
I bought a Snapscan, it works as advertised - it has Acrobat Standard, it does OCR, etc.

I used Visioneer scanners 8+ years ago both at home and at the office. They were priced well, worked great, and the little "box of plastic wrap"-size models were fantastic. I scanned everything. Their "PaperPort Desktop" and "PaperPort PageViewer" software was great for organizing documents and images.
Then Visioneer dropped support for Macs. I had everything, both at home and at work, scanned into their proprietary format. If it weren't for GraphicConverter's ability to read that format and write to a common format just as jpg, I would have been completely screwed.
I'll never use a Visioneer product again. There's no reason to bother when there are so many other scanners available which use common file formats and can be controlled by VueScan or other good software.
