I have an old LaserWriter IIf which was working just fine directly connected to my shiny new G4 via the built in ethernet connector and a AsanteTalk translator box. Problem is I upgraded to a cable modem, and it is now taking up the one and only ethernet connection on the computer. So I bought a LinkSys 4 port router hoping to solve the problem. My internet connection works fine but try as I might I can't get the Router to talk to the printer. Help!!!!!

I have a similar set up, except for an Asante router. I assume you are still connecting the printer via the AsanteTalk. The AsanteTalk is very sensitive to powering sequence (HMF has provided several detailed steps to get through this).

My memory aid is:

1. Start everything up including the printer.

2. When everything is up, pull the power cord on the AsanteTalk.

3. Wait 30 seconds or so, and power up the AsanteTalk.

The computer should now recognize the printer via the router and AsanteTalk.
