European readers should look at 'Weather Pro', I am sure it won't be long before they bring out an iPad optimised version. I haven't looked back since buying that for my iPhone. I particularly like the radar and satellite image functionality.

I use The Weather Channel app almost exclusively, but also use the Weather Bug app. Often TWC app shows the splash screen and then exits after a few moments. It seems the only way to get it to load is to reset the iPad, or wait until something happens that allows it to load, and I don't know what that something is. The Weather Bug has been flawless, but as the reviewer stated, it doesn't have as much info for the future, but around here more than a day in the future forecast will be wrong anyway.

I use WeatherBug daily on both my iPhone and iPad. I've tried all of the others, and actually have many of them istalled, but I seem to always go straight to WeatherBug for its speed and features.

The reviewer failed to mention that the radar/weather map graphics updates on the Weather Channel Max app are so slow and "blocky" that they make the map animation almost useless. I find that the animated maps are the most useful feature in any weather app so this means that the Weather Channel Max app has a pretty serious flaw (IMO). For this reason alone, I find the WeatherBug app a much better product.

My single biggest problem with TWC app is that on start up I have to choose where I want to go from the 6 icons they've got. Guess where I want to go 97% of the time? Local conditions/forecast. Heck as I type I think it may be 99% which is why I like Weather HD, but I've got almost the same problem. Every single time I go to the app I'm having to click to bring up the forecast. All the Weather Apps reviewed here except AccuWeather suffer from the same problem, slow loading times because they are trying to do too much crap. Live weather maps on WeatherBug are cool and all, but how often am I using them? Almost never.

Of the 6 weather apps I've got on my iPad he only one on my home page is Accuweather. I miss my weather app from my iPhone. Simple. Clean. Fast.

Having tried each of the apps in the review, I'm surprised that there isn't a killer weather app for iPad. I actually read the article hoping Jeff had found a gem I missed.

I guess we'll all be keeping our eyes peeled for the next update.

You missed my favourite: Weather Station Pro.

I liked WeatherBug for iPad until the latest update. Can't get it to even start up anymore. They said they are aware but it has been quite a while. Until it is fixed, don't bother.

I currently have 9 weather apps installed ( I know ;) )

My favorite two and the ones I use pretty much daily are WeatherStation, which displays local NOAA data like a personal weather station including a multiple day forecast; and WunderMap to track the progress of snow storms / severe weather and wind conditions.

I agree with the article & other comments about some other apps quitting unexpectedly upon launch, loading slowly, having poor radar screens or navigation, not allowing you a default selection (TWC), ...
