Ann, you mention that you don't consider it healthy to weigh in every day, but you don't say why. If the program is trying to calculate an _exact_ goal for caloric intake each day, it is true that your basal metabolic rate is based on your weight (among other things).
From your description, it sounds like the app is trying to be TOO precise, perhaps without explaining to users that the precision is illusory. The caloric values looked up are only averages, after all, and if your taco has a somewhat larger or smaller dollop of sour cream than mine, it'll have a different caloric value.
I'm also curious about entering a goal in terms of pounds per week of weight loss. For an "average" diet of 2,000 calories (e.g., what's listed on food packages for Average Daily Allowances), a calorie deficit of 25% (500 calories per day) only results in the loss of one pound a week. To lose two pounds a week would mean cutting one's intake in half, or significantly increasing exercise levels (say, an hour of running a day, seven days a week).
At any rate, thanks for the detailed review. A four-mouse rating seems a little generous based on the fact that you found it time consuming and frustrating to find/enter food items, but as I don't have any other app to suggest or promote, I'll leave it at that.
Cheers

Hi The Breen,
Thanks for your comment.
I will do my best to answer all your questions/comments.
I realize why Tap & Track asks you to weigh in every day. Then you know your daily caloric intake. I find that weighing in every day can become an obsessive habit. My experience with Weight Watchers is that stepping on the scale once a week is sufficient.
You make a good point about caloric values being averages. Definitely something to keep in mind. Though, if you wanted a plain taco you would look that up. If you wanted to add sour cream then you would look up the calories for that and add it to your daily intake.
I had to enter basic information into the Tap & Track app for it to configure my daily calorie intake: starting weight, gender, age, height, job type, how many pounds to lose per week and goal weight. As I lost weight my daily calorie intake slowly decreased. When I exercised calories were added to my daily calorie allotment.
Thanks for reading and commenting.
