I'm sure that anyone who might consider this utility already knows how to edit the /etc/hosts file. At least it is free.

It didn't say anything at http://scotchi.net/localghost/ about not working in Tiger and/or on a PPC (nor with such-and-such OS only) so I downloaded and installed it. With personal experience I can now say: It does not work on a PPC with OS X 10.4.11. It doesn't give any error message(s) - just quietly closes.

As long as vi works and a # sign comments out a line in /etc/hosts, I can't imaging spending $ for this.

Ooops. Or should I say "But wait, there's more..."
It doesn't work in Snow Leopard on my (Intel) MacBook either. There I can't even see it open - it does "nothing." Well, it does *something* because when I go to Move [it] to Trash it's open. Had to Restart (visions of Windows here) to remove it. On both machines I can get to the hosts file directly, so no big loss.
