A little bit duct tape would serve as well. There's almost nothing you can't do with the stuff....

Except, oddly, it's really not that good at anything involving ductwork.
(Which is really not so odd, because the named "duct tape" is revisionism.)

How large is "exceptional"? I'm wondering how it would behave with my 27" iMac.

A few good software innovations, and this could really fly.
I think I'll wait a bit before deciding on anything.

I can see your logic. I think any programmable buttons aren’t needed. As a right-handed user (brought up only for logistical rationale), I’m using the Trackpad with my left hand, keyboard in the center, and a Wacom Wireless Intuos tablet on my right - after tweaking the settings for the Trackpad, I’m already 90% of the way to the perfect workspace for me. Augmented by dozens of keyboard shortcuts in System Preferences, there’s almost, in my mind, little need for any more buttons on the Trackpad. To each, their own preference.
