This AM I found an App for the Spider Card game on MadWorld's App page and when clicking it, iTunes opened. I purchased the App and it downloaded to iTunes and is shown in the Library. Now, all the other Apps and Books, etc on the iPad have been bought via the iPad itself instead of using the computer. iTunes on the Computer says I cannot sync the new App (the only one shown in the computer's iTunes library) with the iPad without it deleting all the other Apps on the iPad, which I do not want to do. Question: Can I get that new App from the computer's iTunes to the iPad so the game can be played, and if so, how is that done. Thanks, so much. (PS: That game is not available from the iPads app store). MacWorld's page says the game is OK for an iPad.

I figured it out. I had tried to transfer the things on the iPad to iTunes, but it would not work. A grandson had put on some Apps using his account and because there were things on the iPad not in my name it would not transfer. Getting rid of those allowed the transfer to take place and then I could sync the new App to the iPad without loosing anything.

Manually dragging an app from the PC to the iPad (in iTunes, on the left side) should work - I just tried it.
Have you tried automatic sync yet? Select the Apps tab (in the iTunes main window) and check "Sync Apps" and check the little boxes for all apps you want to sync. And then click Sync (on the right side of the capacity bar).
