Podcasts on this sort of subject are inferior to written articles.

Fortunately, we do both. As you would know if you listened to the podcast.
The big difference is, it takes 40 minutes to record a podcast. It takes a lot longer to write the article. Which is why I am sitting here at 9 p.m. still working on it.

Hey one thing you missed in the podcast was how does the new apple TV compare to buying a Mac Mini and using that as a media center?

The Mac Mini costs $600 more and requires substantially more technical prowess to successfully use with a TV. With this much of a difference comparisons may not be valuable to most people. If you are the type to
a: know that you can use a $700 Mac to act as a living room device
b: have $700 to spend and
c: have the technical wherewithal to maintain the device, then you probably are sufficiently knowledgeable about it to be able to make your own informed comparisons based on the article/podcast about the $99 A_TV.

Totally apples and oranges. Attaching a computer to a TV is a much more complicated procedure. It requires set-up, you need to have a keyboard and mouse around to control the device when it goes astray (which is often)... they're really not comparable. Attaching a mini to a TV is fun for techy people, but it'll never be a mainstream product like the Apple TV is trying to be.

I submit that Phillip Michaels and Jason Snell are eerily similar-sounding disembodied voices (as has probably been pointed out before).
