I hope AirPlay allows me to stream Last.fm and rdio from my iPhone to my Airport Expresses. Access to those services is the only thing I miss having gone back to AE's from Sonos. I do wonder if streaming via AirPlay will be as stable/glitch free as Sonos and their mesh network.

We'll have to wait and see. Sonos is rock solid in my experience and I haven't seen that from iTunes streaming via its old way of doing things. The other thing that AirPlay will lack (I assume) is the ability to gather together all your sources -- iTunes library, subscription service, Pandora/Last.fm, hardware players -- into a single elegant interface where you don't even think about where the music comes from, it's just part of your music.

Ordered it already !!! I,too, am a SONOS fanatic. Use the system and you will love it. Besides simply charging my iPhone, now I have a portal to stream LIVE365 via its free iphone app throughout the house. Marvelous.

Also a huge fan of SONOS. About a month ago I tried MacWorld's suggestion of running iTunes with APEs as a comparison, and the music dropped so frequently that it was unusable. I think SONOS has figured out music to the nth degree and that AirPlay is going to have to show some significant improvement if it is going to catch on. I hope it does (competition is a good thing), but in my book SONOS is the undisputed (and pricey) king.

Now if only Sonos would play high definition 96kHz/24bit Flac tracks like Squeezebox does.

At first, I thought this was great, but in practice, it's dysfunctional. Why do I have to dock a wifi device in order to get on a wireless network? I keep my phone with me while in the house because I need to make/receive calls/text/email/etc wherever I happen to be. That's the point of a wireless device, after all!
Instead of this dock, why not make an app that allows you to stream the iDevice audio over wifi to the Sonos system? Same for Laptops... I'd love to wirelessly stream the audio from my laptop to my sonos so while I'm doing anything with audio (youtube/skype/dvd/websites, etc.) it can be played to my Sonos zones.
