I like the Move playlists to folders script found on The Doug's site.
Can't understand why iTunes doesn't do this already.

Except for Albumize Selection, none of these are any of the half-dozen or so AppleScripts from his site that I use. My favorite is the "Put this in that" series of scripts, which make tag editing bearable. I also use a modified version of the "Park iTunes" script with a keyboard shortcut to always put the mini player in the exact same place on the screen.

Some alternatives to two things you mentioned.

"Print a Web page you want to read later to PDF, add it to iTunes, then sync it to your iPad."
Or, use Instapaper, Read Later, etc. There are several free web services for that, and they have apps for iOS and other mobile platforms.

As for Spins, you could also the free Last.fm, which has scrobble add-ons that work with iTunes.

Excellent timing as I want to put a PDFs of my new camera manual on my iPhone but I have a problem.

So I downloaded and installed PDF Adder then used it to locate and add two PDFs that now appear in iTunes Books.

But when I hook up my iPhone, select the iPhone in iTunes devices, select the Books tab and click to tick the Sync Audiobooks checkbox - I get the warning "Are you sure you want to sync Audiobooks? All existing songs, movies and TV shows on the iPhone will be removed."

I have no books on the iPhone but don't want to loose my songs etc.

Can anyone tell me how serious this Apple warning is and what I should do?

thanks

Doug’s AppleScripts for iTunes is an excellent source of info and scripts, but in recent times, I have had trouble with some of the more complicated offerings (iTunes Library Manager to be specific) and have been unable to get any support or response to requests for assistance.

Regarding - 6. Remove n Characters From Front or Back

I use this one a lot to clean up tags. When I rip classical CDs, they often contain the composer’s name at the beginning of the track names. I don’t need this info, so I count how many characters there are, then run this script.

You may want to look at a script that would keep you from having to count the number of characters in a composers name, thus saving you time.

It is "Search/Replace Tag Text" Copy the composers name from one track, select all the tracks with that composers name, run this script, paste in the copied name, replace it with nothing, all the composers names will disappear from the beginning of those tracks.

You mention the scripts are free, but I've always made a donation when I've download several scripts, it is worth it to support such an excellent Macintosh resource.

Re Search/Replace Tag Text, you're right. However, I find that it's much slower, since it actually has to search rather than just strip characters.

There are a dozen more I could have mentioned in the article, if I had room. Though personally, I have never needed that script.

That one was included in one of the older articles linked to near the end of the story.

I've had trouble with several of Doug's applescripts with iTunes 10. Embed artwork for one does not work (might want to note this in the story). Does anyone know of another way to embed artwork in a music file on a mac? Or even how to tell what track doesn't have artwork embedded?
