Second, I first became acquainted with Etymotic canalphones at a New York Macworld about 10 years ago. I was thoroughly impressed with their sound. It was amazing that something so small could reproduce music at a level approaching my home audiophile sound system. Since my son lost my pair I have been looking to find a good review of the mc3's.
I'd say I found it.

I burn in all headphones for at least 24 hours before I really start to evaluate them. I know some people would argue that longer burn-in is required, but there's not always time. I think by the time this review was finished they'd probably had somewhere between 70 and 100 hours of burn-in.

Actually I reviewed the Apple in-ears and found them a bit lacking in low bass. Probably a bit more bass overall than the mc3 but not a huge difference. So if you like those you may also lik the MC3.

In the review I said I found the isolation comparable to the triple flanges, which is pretty much the best I've heard. If you're curious about the tips, be sure you read my other article, about Etymotic's Custom-Fit program.

Rexsim, thanks very much for the kind words! You should direct much of your praise to Dan Frakes who always does a fantastic job editing my pieces.
I haven't had the opportunity to hear Etymotic's other models, but everything I've read (and I did a lot of research) makes me believe that the mc3 comes impressively close to them for a fraction of the price. That said, I hope you enjoy your mc3s. If you like them, you might want to think about checking out the Custom-Fit program as well.
Thanks again!
