Did you try any 1080p60 content? This box is supposed to have the horsepower to handle it, but I can't find any info as to whether it actually works.

Can you use it watch videos on the free version of Hulu? That is, can you go to Hulu.com and watch videos?

Having suffered with a 1st Gen AppleTV for awhile, and watching the dumb games the broadcasters are playing with devices like the Boxee Box and Google TV, I decided to simply use a Mac Mini with a remote keyboard for my home entertainment hub. It's the way to go. You can have all your music and video right there in one place. You can have a "10 feet away" experience when you want it, yet have a full-on computer experience for tweaking things and managing content when you want or need that as well. Still love Boxee (which I run on my Mini).

Wow, not a mention of it's media playback capabilities? No comparison to Apple TV? Is this really a review??

None of these devices are a replacement for cable/sat.
Broadcasters are aligning with one, blocking the others.
If you want all that cable/sat offers, you will need to get all of them.

The box is cool looking, but awkward. Where ya putting it? Can't set anything on top of it.

I dig the idea of IPTV, but with no net neutrality, if you have cable internet, and use IPTV instead, they can legally throttle back the bandwidth on that port, making 'appear' that IPTV is spotty/glitchy, which will nearly force you back to their TV.

I've been a Boxee fan for a little while... used it mostly on my hacked AppleTV, but was eager to get the Box as soon as it came out.. well, should have waited a bit longer and not become a victim of early user syndrome.. had to return it in less than 2 weeks of usage (bat chipset apparently) Anyhow, while it was working it did a magnificent job as it did on my hacked ATV (software wise), but with a big nice perk... 1080p VIDEO! I ran a full ripped Bluray movie and it was flawless, but not wireless, mind you, rather via LAN. The Boxee Box lacks 5GHZ that my Airport Extreme is capable of, so 2.4GHZ was not an option to stream most of HD 1080p content. I am anxiously waiting to the replacement and crossing my fingers to enjoy it for the "years" to come.

It probably plays H.264 and DivX from NAS which would be wonderful.

I suspect the reviewer neglected to mention the media playback capabilities because Boxee Box plays just about everything. It's really easy to forget about something that works so well.

If you're looking for a perfect device for streaming on-line content, this review is spot-on. The Boxee Box has a great interface, has made all the right inroads, but just isn't quite there yet, mostly due to the content providers trying to protect their dinosaur business models.

On the other hand, if you've got a lot of local media on a USB hard drive or network share (SMB works best), the Boxee Box is hard, maybe impossible, to beat at this time.
