It's already been reported that Yahoo fired the entire Delicious development team, though. So it is a dead product no matter who owns it.

This sounds like a pure PR move. How can you sell or transfer a product if there is nobody left on the team that was working on it? In every big product, the devil is in the details and the people who knows about those are not around to help out the new owners. It seems Yahoo is just trying to damp down the backlash for a little while.
