What amazes me is that it's over a gig. 1.2 or 1.7 I think (that's what OS X Server is telling me). How does one need that much space for drivers?

Why is my Apple LW Select 360 listed with a supported driver for Snow Leopard, when Appletalk printers are not supported?

I'll bet you guys used the pre-installed OS X. I'm guessing that if you left every default Epson printer installed, OS X will update every single last one of those suckers. Result: A gigabyte of driver updates.
Whenever I get a new Mac or install an OS X upgrade, I use the Custom Install feature and exclude all printers I don't use. Last time, I think I even excluded all printers, and just let OS X download my printer's specific driver after I plugged it in and OS X recognized it. The payoff, in addition to saving a couple gigabytes to start with, was when I ran Software Update yesterday, the download size was just a few hundred K.

Are these drivers made by Epson or by Apple? Why would Apple offer updates and not Epson?
No mention is made as to why there is an update. What's new? The site and the filename do NOT speak for themselves - -we are left to wonder if this is a wise update.
I noticed that the Epson Stylus Pro 3800 and 3880 are conspicuously missing. What's up with that?
Could you (Jonathon) or someone on editorial staff help us out here with this collection of mysteries?
