My Granddad has one of these that he never used, and it is still in mint condition.

I have 2 of them, so fun to startup w/ a floppy and then insert another to run a app.

I just want to add the even modern Mac desktop such as the iMac and even the expandable Mac Pro but with its the relatively limited choices in upgrades (at least compared to the huge plethora of PC upgrades) still frustrates tinkerers to no end. :)

I appreciate that it came later and isn't worth much as an antique, but if you're going to drag out an old toaster-style Mac, then make it an SE/30 if you have one available. The Mac Plus may have been a great advance for its time, but it's extraordinarily frustrating to work with in 2011 (even if you are abnormally patient). In any case, the 128k Mac is the genuine antique (I've been kicking myself since about 1988 for selling mine...)

A few of my buddies had Macs back in those days. I was initially skeptical of the Mac when it came out, but after touching one I saw the light. I wanted a Plus so bad it hurt, but I could not manage the $2,500(,000) cost. Gorgeous display, Microsoft Excel, C programming environment, and... Talking Moose!

I got one of the 128K's as well - my first computer actually. I remember being blown away by the ease of use. And so started my addiction to perpetual upgrades, iThings, and so on!

I had two. One, I bought for a steal at the campus computer store (one of their floor models). The other, I fished out of a dumpster and fixed the analog board with a $2 capacitor (a well known fix). That one even came with the serial hard drive! Boy, was that noisy keyboard terrible!

I think that it was about halfway through the life of the MacPlus that Mac became profitable (late 1980's). Until that point the Apple II was the cash cow that Steve Jobs couldn't dare kill. They were still making A//e's until 1993, a ten year production life span for a computer model.

The SE/30 was probably the best Mac (relative to it's time) ever made. I used one for several years (and later used it as a fax receiver). But it had (along with others Macs of the period) a defect: the capacitors on the motherboard leaked an ultimately rendered them useless. I doubt that you can find many that can work today

And those of us from back then liked to pronounce SCSI as "sexy". Never got us any dates.

Yes I did with my Mac Classic back in the early 1990's. From what I remember the order of the devices would make or break the chain; and don't forget the termination at the end of the chain or permanent damage could result.

Any one else have any recollections?

Never had a Mac Plus. Got into Macs a little too late for those, but I DO still have a Color Classic. Unfortunately it has video issues, so I haven't used it in years but I doubt that I would ever part with it.
