Not easy enough. Spotlight doesn't learn my abbreviations. With this tools I can invoke it, PS for Photoshop, PB for Photo Booth, IP for iPhoto… making all my most-used applications two or three keystrokes away.

Why is Macworld reviewing prerelease software?
I've seen this more than once in the Mac App store. As an iOS developer, Apple explicitly forbids beta or alpha software in the store. I'm not in the Mac App store as a developer, but I can say as consumer, it's not very encouraging.

I recommend that people should use LaunchBar instead. I find LaunchBar far more responsive (Alfred always seems to have a noticeable delay in popping up) and it has a number of really nice features (like event creation, custom searches). While LaunchBar costs money and Alfred is free, the extra cost is worth it.

There's no comparison.

It can be quicker if you are working primarily from the keyboard. For example most of the commonly used programs are a single letter abbreviation in Alfred, so I hit cmd-space then 'p' and Photoshop is opening. I can do that in a fraction of a second. Reaching for the mouse and moving to the dock then clicking on the icon would be slower. However, the bigger issue is that I don't keep Photoshop on my dock. I use too many applications to keep them all on my dock so an app launcher is much easier than navigating through the application folder to find the application icon.

People, stop making yourselves look like fools. You obviously don't have the app. Everyone who's used it loves it. So, here's why I use it rather than Spotlight: there are seventy-seven different options in the Features preferences, in the free version. And you can't compare the Spotlight options, because Alfred actually uses them (at least the privacy ones). So… get it. It's great.
