The article does a bit of a disservice to the camera. The S95 and the G12 share the same sensor which in many ways gives it equal video quality.

We have an S90 (as well as several Canon DSLR's) and the focus ring adjustment is something that is not as groundbreaking as Canon thinks.

Beautiful low-light images. A huge upgrade from my aging Canon PowerShot SD500.

You can add a raised grip for $40 (http://www.kleptography.com/rf/). The camera offers raw image files. That, along with its tiny size, makes it a suitable carry-along for pros.

This is a fine camera -- I used it for an entire week at Walt Disney World to test it out this past December -- but it is not as good as the Lumix LX5 from Panasonic. I haven't used the Canon s95 since that trip. I am happy with the photos it takes, but it doesn't have wide-angle, the photos are not as sharp, and the overall feel of the camera ergonomically is not as satisfying as the LX5 which I used all fall, and which I used on a second trip to WDW this January. The battery life is also woeful. You get roughly double the shots with a single battery charge on the Lumix. To be sure the s95 is a fine camera -- but it's not as amazing as some might have you think

Anyone who'd suffer through WDW multiple times to test cameras is a saint.

The LX5 is about 50% thicker and heavier than the S95 but almost as large as the G12. Perhaps Panasonic makes a smaller model that would be more comparable to the S95.

If I am not mistaken (I am not 100% sure), the G12 image quality does outperform the S95. If that is the case, you might find the G12 image quality as good or better than the similarly sized LX5. Also, you certainly would find the G12 battery life as good as the Pany.

First, the LX5 IS Panasonic's equivalent of the s95...

Second, it simply is not true that it is as large as the G12 -- the camera size itself is the size of the s95, but it does have a lens that sticks out in front adding bulk, not weight, as it sticks out 3/4 inch, similar to a smaller 3/4 type camera.

Image quality of the LX5 is indeed more comperable to the G12 -- but the form factor, size, and other features are more comperable to the s95.

Take your pick -- I think people who are serious shooters that want low-light capability are going to look at the s95, the LX5, and the G12 and make up their decision as to size/ergonomics/price value.

As a user of the s95 and the LX5, I was voicing my personal experience that the LX5 consistently gives better looking shots, especially in lower light, and that I prefer it to the s95 because of the IQ and the wider-angle lens.

Lets not forget that the S95 has a RAW mode.
Also, the exterior is rougher compared to the S90, an therefore more "gripable"
