Nice piece Jason. Oddly enough, I live in a state that has not had AT&T service and thus no (official) iPhones. AT&T was supposed to be coming here around the beginning of 2011, but it hasn't happened yet. So for me, I can get a Verizon iPhone before I could get an AT&T iPhone.

Yes, I know there are some places (Vermont?) where AT&T is but a rumor. This is great news for you guys, especially!

I'm glad I live in a strong AT&T area, mostly (more on that). I wouldn't go back to Verizon if they gave me an iPhone and FREE service.

As far as my coverage, it's generally great. Lately it's been showing low signal and I did have a day with a few dropped calls (rare for me). After contacting customer service (which has always been great), I was informed they're upgrading my local tower... to LTE! I was told by the tech person on the phone, as well as in my local store, that AT&T is done upgrading to HSPA+, and they're now just jumping right to LTE for upgrades! I was beside myself. I think it's awesome! I live in rural central-western Pennsylvania.

Could this be a sign that the iPhone LTE is coming this year? Doubtful, but here's to wishful thinking! Maybe next year

I guess improved voice service aren't enough to make me switch. Phone calls are the last thing I use my iPhone for.

I may have missed it but when using the personal hotpsot over Wifi it doesn't cap your data traffic does it? I know I would have to pay for the service but connected to a Wifi network it is just a pass through?

I am pretty sure that would be the case but just in case..

It must be nice to test a phone on a relatively empty playing field. I wonder what will happen when millions of iphone users start logging on like they do on AT&T months after the user base matures.

No death grip issue. That has been resolved in the Verizon iPhone.

The LED flash on the iPhone 4 works surprisingly well. Perhaps you never took pictures in dim lighting. I think most would disagree with your comment that the flash is not worth using.

There never was a death grip issue with the AT&T iPhone either. The iPhone 4 gets better reception than the original iPhone and no one complained about that phone if you covered the lower half.

@Tisinger....how would you know when the iPhone Verizon isn't even released yet? Who knows what the reception might be.

I'd like to see a good comparison of real world connectivity tests outside metro areas. My experience is that AT&T is horrible in anything but large city metro areas. I've driven cross-country a lot and even in fair sized places like Branson it was all but impossible to even send an email even with full bars. Where I live it frequently doesn't work at all - I have learned open access points by heart so I can stop and get updates when not at home or office.
