Wow! Over 2000 double sided pages per minute.

For years I used (formally Tektronic and then later Xerox) Phaser printers to print double sided newsletters in the thousands. It was great technology in that I could print color and the postage and addresses directly on the pages. It was cost effective and fast, but nothing like this.

This would reduce to minutes what took me hours.

Of course this is not exactly low scale printing. I expect that you would need volume in the hundreds of thousands of pages a month range to make this viable, but once the technology trickles down a bit it will be incredible to see where it leads.

As I mentioned, I USED to print newsletters and mail them. It has been almost a decade since I switched to electronic delivery. Now 10,000 pieces cost me the same as 1 to produce. I doubt I will ever need a high speed printer like this again, but it is hard not to wistfully imagine the possibilities.
Life, like wine, is all about balance.

2,180 pages per minute? Yeah, that's a wee bit faster than what's available on the consumer market.

Haha, yea perhaps a while to wait for that one in my dining room. I love the wax printers xerox produces, but they do block u pif not used constantly, perhaps this new method would deal with that. Probably a good five years to wait for anything in the home though.

Wow, that's about 36 pages per second. That's fast.

Will it waste as much solid ink as the Tektronic (later on Xerox Phaser) did when turning it on, turning it off and even while idle? A real waste!!!

It's best to leave these machines on, at least in standby mode. They do use some ink when you turn them on from cold – remelting and clearing the jets. That said, the ones in our office are real workhorses. They're used throughout the day and I've never seen them waste any ink in standby. Very economical. More suited to office than home use though. The latter, having a more intermittent printing schedule, isn't the best place for these printers.

2,180 two-sided pages per minute? I can just see the marketing slogan now: "Only limited by the speed you can refill the paper tray" :)
