Those guys at Apple have produced some nice technical updates, but they forget the simple things, like the need for a good matte screen in all their MacBooks. More important than a lot of the new razmatazz.

It's a Zen thing. I guess the boss has been too unwell to think about that, and I understand that. He's going through some tough times.

Homework time: Go to the Apple Store online and check MacBook Pro build options. We'll wait.

Both 15" and 17" models offer optional matte display, if you want. I hate matte personally, so I guess everyone is happy.

Read the post time: It's about "all their MacBooks".

No matte in the 13", last time I looked. Neither MacBook nor MacBook Pro.

Everyone is not happy.

Put me in the same boat. I was considering a possible eBay listing for my 2008 17 inch. Having read the specs...not so fast. Think I will keep it for a real upgrade instead of a tweak.

1. Biggest reason. Same weight. My old back was hoping for lighter.
2. Faster is great. But for my business needs, mine is fast enough.
3. More memory potential...nope.
4. Faster optical burner...nope.
5. Thunderbolt is great. May be worth it down the road when there's something to connect.
5. SSD still way too expensive.

Nice update but not enough yet. I'm looking forward to 2012.

While I like the idea of a podcast in this case about half the time is taken up with forced levity, pauses and, frankly, ramblings. OK maybe some had been up since 5am but, if so, don't do the podcast. I'm not saying it needs to be a boring repetition of an article but make it a bit more snappy. It may be fun to do but think of the audience who is taking time from an already crowded day to listen to your 49 minutes.

I thought the podcast was typically smart, thoughtful and relaxed. It doesn't need to be Huntley-Brinkley, you know.

OMG this podcast is so lame! The guy describing the new laptops barely remembers basic details like what the GPU is. He is not sure if the last gen 13" MBP had a GeForce integrated chip. Very lame for Macworld guys.

I take full responsibility for the nature of the podcast, and I'm sorry you didn't find it up to your standards. As most of my colleagues know, I much prefer to be behind the scenes than behind the mic. I'm quite aware of my lack of ability as a speaker. Nerves get the better of me, I stutter, ramble, and struggle to not panic. However, since I'm deeply involved in the reviews of the new laptops (and usually I am involved in the reviews of new Macs in general), and others weren't available to speak, I had to step up.

Fortunately for you, I am not a podcast regular. So you can rest assured that the next several podcast will be up to par. At least until I appear again :)

But I got it right, didn't I? As I said in a previous message, nerves get the best of me when I have to speak publicly or in a performance setting. I'll try to do better.
