Can't you turn the iPad2 180º?
Left is right, right is left!

Looks like a neat design, but I have to wonder if the polyurethane would start to crack at the joints after repeated use. Most plastics don't handle repeated flexing well with age.

So one thing I was wondering about: The cover seems to make a sharp *click* sound as it is attached, implying that there is metal on metal contact.

Any signs of the cover's metal hinge scratching the aluminum back of the iPad 2 after repeated attaching/detaching? Or is there a felt buffer (or something like it) protecting the iPad 2?

If you are going to use this case at all, you're clearly not overly concerned about scuffing the aluminum back. You'll probably get some scuffs on the underside the first time you put it down on a table.

you could do that, but the home button would be at the top and the cameras would be on the bottom.

I wonder if the smart cover magnets would still hold on to the iPad 2 if I used a clear protector kit like BodyGuardz. That way I wouldn't have to worry about the back getting scratched.

P.S. The smart cover is AWESOME.

I didn't think about the security aspects. Surely if you've set your iPad up with a passcode lock, it should request you type it in when the cover is opened? I really think Apple should consider adding this in a software update.

overpriced, polyurethane colors are hideous, doesn't protect the back at all, and won't let it stand in portrait mode, just landscape.

gonna wait until third parties start using the "smart" on technology and get something then.

You can safely assume there will be other Apple products (iPad 3) to take its place well before these materials fail.

Everything should still work fine with FaceTime. It should autorotate.
