IMHO none of the browsers are offering anything to make a user switch. So, any new version is not likely to sway someone to change their Browser usage. The change/update just helps to keep users from leaving for another browser. Sadly, I feel Mozilla took to long to address the speed issues and lost too many users to Chrome.
I know several users who will not be adopting Firefox4 as it does not support old Macs. The old people in my life live quite happily on their G4 hand-me-downs. They are not going to take to a new machine anytime soon. If they do get a new machine, it will likely be an iPad.

These microscopic examinations of market share are rather useless. What is more telling is a long-term trend.

Excellent point. I, for one, am using TenFourFox because the G5 I am using at the office runs great and since it cost a couple grand, I don't see it as disposable. I will use it until it quits. And I don't think TenFourFox registers as FF4 on web surveys.

As long as a browser is standards compliant I don't really care how much market share it has. That's why I continue to use Safari as my primary browser. It's been years since I encountered a web site that refuses to work with Safari. Gone are the days when Mac users were told to go away because only IE worked.

If they hadn't dropped PPC support just imagine how many more they would have DL'd. Maybe then it would have made a mark worth touting?

I doubt it... but there'd be a lot more users. There ARE unofficial PPC builds, though. It's open source.
