It would have taken two extra minutes to add screenshots to this tip, and it would have far improved the article. Please consider doing this in the future, as well as putting your 'How To' articles in their own section (or at least make it a searchable, tagged category).

Mac user for three years - never knew I could customise the Finder Toolbar, so now have Get Info, New Folder and Delete icons. Great Tip - Thank you!!

ZombieReagan, you are absolutely right. A how to, with no screenshots? odd. The author must have been in a hurry to crank one out to meet their quota...

How strange. I just drag a trashed file to the desktop or to a folder in another Finder window.

None of the hints worked for me. The delete is grayed out, I don't have a "Put Back" in my file or contextual menu's. Useless!

Same here. Maybe only works in 10.6x? (I'm still foot-dragging on 10.5.8).

For me a simpler way is just using the mouse. Highlight the item and right click the mouse. Select "put back" form the contextual menu. Done!
(Using OSX 10.6)

It must be a 10.6 thing. I remember having discussions long ago about this feature missing from the OS 9 days. I had no idea it was back.

Thanks Dan! And I did not even need a picture. :P

That''s it? A paragraph or two on how to undelete? How about drag and drop? No screenshots. No logic. A subject matter that doesn't baffle a single user. The only person that learned anything from this article learned that the menus were customizable, rather than what the article is about.

Dear MacWorld.com writers: Stop missing your deadlines and making up for it with ... THIS. Goodness.

Bull. I didn't know the delete button works this way. And it's better than Drag and Drop because I don't have to remember where the file used to be, or if I do, open the folder where it used to be. It's much quicker.

Sometimes there are guys out there that thinks that every mac user is using the latest version of OS X. As already mentioned by several guys here, these hints don't work in Leopard or before. May be they work well in SL. Any way, many thanks for sharing.
