New 2011 iMacs

I do enjoy hearing the MacWorld gang gabbing about just about anything (yeah, I listen to "The Incomparable Podcast"), and this one was an improvement on the MacBook Pro 2011 release podcast (Roman Loyola was awake for this one!).
However, I think a basic organization tip is in order: when a refresh is imminent (or 6 months after a product release, if you don't want to track the refresh rumors), go to store.apple.com and do screenshots of the various configurations, then make a spreadsheet of the various models, available options (and prices), etc. Distribute to all of the podcast participants.
The biggest issue with these product refresh podcasts is that nobody seems to remember what was available before the refresh or how much options cost. The participants then proceed to confuse each other with conflicting mis-rememberings of what has actually changed. For example, there have only been two screen sizes since 2007, and there were only three screen sizes for a brief period after the 24" was introduced and before the 17" was discontinued. Also, all iMacs have come with 4GB of RAM standard since the late 2009 models.
If all of the participants have a handy chart showing that last year's models had these processors, this much RAM, these hard disk options at these prices, the conversation can concentrate on what really has changed, and you can provide better information for your listeners with no (or a lot less - we're all human) mis-information.

I turned this one off shortly after you guys mashed up the history of the iMac, completely forgetting the 24" iMac sold just a few years ago and the difference between the 20" and 21.5" iMacs. The 17" iMac was discontinued long before the 27" iMac was even a gleam in Steve Jobs' eye. While I wouldn't expect anyone to have the dates and specifications of all these at their finger tips, forgetting the 24" iMac was, for me, inexcusable. It made it clear you were winging it and that I would learn little if anything useful from listening further.
