Still waiting for an updated Airport Express, to replace the one in my office that just croaked after 4 years. Need something to drive a pair of speakers, and there seems to be nothing else available. Or is there?

How about better support for IPv6?! The current firmware barely gets a passing grade with buggy 6to4 support via tunneling. It has to get better than that and fast! IPv6 is loudly banging on the Internet's door.

Mark my words!!! Apple R&D and subsequently Apple PR never does this. Make and release a new device without new features, hardware or otherwise. I can only remember once before when Steve told us, during the Intel launch, that x86 was hidden in Mac OSX for years. I suspect that there is plenty hidden firmware in both the new AEBS and TC that will be revealed at the launch of Lion and iOS5.

Anybody grab one of these yet? Notice any speed difference? I have a 1st gen Time Capsule that doesn’t do dual band, so I’m thinking about getting a new Extreme with dual band so I can throw my MacBook and iMac (and Time Capsule) on the 5GHz band and have the 2.4GHz band for my iPhone 4. Or maybe I should just wait to see if the iPhone 4S/5 has 5GHz capability. What to do.

I think you are correct. Well, x86 wasn't actually hidden in the MacOS X on your desktop, but on computers at Apple HQ, but I wouldn't be surprised to see a few new iCloud-related features show up with a minor update in the fall when iCloud is released.

I'm hoping for it to act as an iCloud gateway to my devices so I can store my content on my own computers rather than Apple's, but I think that's a pipe dream.

And what if there really is no news - that Apple just used a different revision number because, for example, they changed something unimportant for manufacturing or supply chain reasons?

Or to put it rudely...GET A LIFE! :)

(That aside, the AEBT is just great, in large part because of its software. Anyone who's switched to it after using generic routers knows why I say that.)

I use a Belkin bluetooth audio receiver connected to my stereo to stream my music via Bluetooth. its small - about the size of a plug top - and does the job that the Airport does for about half the cost
