"No noticeable speed increase."
Perhaps not on your machine, but very noticeable on mine. I've written a review over a month ago, and these were my experiences:

ArtRage is out on the iPad. It'd be nice to see Painter there as well.

How does this compare to ArtRage Pro? (I'm particularly interested in ARP's 3D export)
Despite Painter's new UI, that wall of watercolor slider controls tells me that it's still an unwieldy interface.

Sorry, but this is a very poor review, especially at a Mac-focused website.
Truth is that this version, while better than the last, is still a very poor Windows port. Sad because it was originally developed for Macs, before it was tossed around and sold eventually to Corel. You can tell just by looking at the pallets and the tool icons.
Also, there is no 64-bit version for OSX, however Corel says there will be one eventually this year.
For more in-depth reviews and Mac-user (as well as Windows) experiences, may I suggest a trip to these websites:

Does it crash without warning like Painter 11 was notorious for? This is a key question the reviewer fails to address on this very expensive program. Having to manually save oneâÂÂs work every two or three minutes just wrecks creativity!

"Itâs hard to imagine how an artistic program of the caliber of Painter could improve,"
I LOVE using Painter, but it's just a stupidly made program. Every setting is a dumb place.

It seems that Painter have advantages over Photoshop, it is worth to try it.
