Several times I had thought about adding the $2 DVD option. That's out for sure now.

Cheers!

Good that there is a separate DVD only option. I really didn't use the poor picture quality streaming much, just once in a long while.

this is such BS. once september rolls around (when they up the fees for the people who currently have service) i'm going to quit. i don't mind upping the fees, hey, everyone is greedy, but not to grandfather in original customers doesn't make sense. that's just poor customer relations.

I'll be looking at my Netflix account tonight. I'll probably just drop the DVD option for now. Red Box is just down the street from my house so I really don't need the DVD anyway. At $2 it was worth keeping for old movies that aren't available for streaming but an additional $8 puts Netflix at a price disadvantage.

On the streaming side, HBO GO is popular with the family and the image quality is much better. If competitors keep bringing better value for same or lower price then I can see Netflix being dropped completely.

instead of gaining the extra $6 a month off me, they are going to lose the $2 I was already paying. just streaming for me. I loved the dvd in the mail but its not why I have netflix.

Netflix doesn't seem to mind frequently kicking their customers in the crotch, financially speaking. The worst was when they raised their Blu-Ray fee from $1 to $5 (for my rental tier, anyway). As competitors like Hollywood Video and others fall by the wayside, Netflix seems to celebrate the lack of competition by jacking their fees.

Still an outstanding deal for those without cable.

I'm with you there, particularly here in Toronto.

DVD was not a $2 option, streaming was the $2 option.

Thanks to Netflix's price increase its time to pay more attention to Amazon and Hulu.

I rarely use streaming but I liked having the option. But it is not worth $8 to me. The video/audio quality is low and the service is fairly unreliable. So I guess I get to save $2.

This would make sense IF their streaming catalog was comparable (or even close) to their DVD catalog. Hopefully the separation/increase will allow them to add more to the streaming catalog.
I'm with a bunch of others... at $2, adding the DVDs was it, but not for another $8.
