I wish there was an easy way when saving in Pages that the document would by default convert to .doc format upon saving instead of always having to select Save As and the .doc format. I often like to work in Pages, but many people in my office still use Microsoft Word.

Will this app or any other convert multiple appleworks wp docs to word docs?

Unless you're afraid of Terminal, save $20 and use textutil.
"textutil -convert doc Desktop/*.docx"
"textutil -convert docx Desktop/*.doc"

Microsoft have their own batch converter to convert the new XML format to the old doc. xls. and ppt. format. I suppose the only thing this has going for it is that it can convert the other way as well.

Has anyone tried it with Word 5.1a files? Mine don't have a ".doc' extension, as it wasn't needed.

(they are a pain to open in Word 2008, as it insists that they have to be opened via an 'Open' dialog - it won't permit drag-and-drop or double-clicking).

Well, I'm not afraid to save $20 by using textutil, but... as I'm not used to use Terminal, I do not understand what I need to do after having wrote the instruction line. Has the .docx file need to be dragged to the Terminal to give me a .doc file onto the Desktop? Thanks in advance.
