I do not understand why Resume for Safari only works when you actually quit the program. If you close Safari with the "red x" and reopen it comes up with a blank page.

Is there a way to get back the old command-click tab behavior (i.e. send the new tab to the end of the line)? When I command-click items, it usually means "I will read this in a few minutes, once I get through the rest of these tabs" (sort of a first in, first out approach to browsing). The new ordering completely throws me off.

There's nothing in the privacy tab in Safari 5.1 prefs - completely blank. All the other tabs are fine.

One thing I hate about Safari in iOS and now in Lion is you need to type the .com when entering an address.

Why ???

I thought the idea was to make things easier not harder!

I've noticed it's very snappy... (I think Lion, overall, is very fast!) But, more importantly (at least so far) is the memory leak (or whatever was causing the issue) is gone! I always leave 10-15 tabs open all the time for sites I view constantly. I noticed in Snow Leopard, after time, Safari would consumer upwards of 1.5 GB of RAM... Since installing yesterday, it remains hovered around 258 MB... Huge! Let's hope it stays that way!

The Red X closes the window, not the application. Closed windows are not resumed. Having the Red X not quit the program has been a feature of Macs for a long time (forever?).

That doesn't quit Safari, it closes a browser window. You told Safari to close a window, so that's its state if you quit and re-start Safari.

Is there a stand-alone Safari 5.1 for Lion. I am having a problem with my newly installed Lion OS. Safari's address bar is dark grey. I have uninstalled any app or plugin that might be causing this glitch. I have even reinstalled Lion, hoping a new install would correct this issue. When I log-in to a guest user account, Safari 5.1 looks fine. I have removed .plist files for Safari and have correct permissions, and the problem still remains in the root user.

I thought, if it were possible, could I uninstall Safari and do a reinstall this might correct this problem.

Safari is super glitchy for me. I went back to Firefox even though I can't zoom on anything there anymore.

Also, does anyone know if there's a way to get the old zoom back where you held control and swiped with two fingers? It's not only easier than the pinching motion but it worked on EVERYTHING. This new method does not.

What about long-loved apps, like 1-Click Answers, that now will not function under LION? And will Firefox's add-ons, like ANSWERS (again), which gives definitions with a click over a word if the Option key is down, function under LION?

I THINK YOU MEAN THE OPTION KEY, NOT CONTROL. ANYWAY, TRY SWIPING WITH THE OPTION KEY DOWN,

I've been using Lion for a few months now: Here are a few tips I've learned for the new Safari.
Enable the new Debug menu using the Secrets preference pane (http://secrets.blacktree.com/). Also explore some of the other Safari-related secrets; some of them will fix the gripes mod of y'all have with the newest iteration of Safari (and some of the gripes you've always had with it!).

I'm not referring to the developer menu, by the way, but the Debug menu. It will give you access to a whole new set of options for Safari. The developer mode is useful, too, though. It lets you enable the 'Do not track" option and a few other things.

Finally, who wishes Safari had an Omnibar à la Google Chrome (or even Firefox). Now it does (sort of): https://github.com/rs/SafariOmnibar
