Moving through the video using "natural scrolling" is pretty entertaining. It is a matter of moving the video from the future (on the right) to the past (on the left), or visa versa, rather than moving the playhead. This was less intuitive to me than when in text, but I am getting the hang of it.

It was funny, the first time I used a scroll wheel, I was surprised that I was moving the scroll bar handle rather than the text. I expected the behavior that we now call "natural." ::grin::

Thanks for the install info, I'll tuck it away for future reinstalls that require reformatting. QT7 Pro followed me just fine when installing Lion over SL.

I ran into problems and was forced to downgrade back to 10.6.8 because video files (HD .mov) that work fine in 10.6.8 won't even open in 10.7. I kept getting errors about missformed files or something like that.

Apple should unify the functionality here and let people license the "pro" featusres. Bad form, Apple.

The key should still be available from your online Apple store account page. It is for me.

1. Go to http://store.apple.com
2. Click the account button in the top right corner of the browser window. Log in if required.
3. Click on Downloadable software purchases link.
4. All of the software downloads purchased through the online Apple store should be there. For me, not only did if have several Quicktime Pro keys, but I could also download a copy of the QT 6 MPEG-2 Playback for Mac OS X.

Thank you for the info!

I somehow 'lost' Quicktime Pro 7 a few years ago either by setting up a new Mac or installing a new operating system. I did not know I could get it back but I just reinstalled it thanks to you.

I found my registration key by searching my old emails (search: quicktime) and up popped my June 2005 confirmation from Apple complete with key. Funny thing though, when I opened the program, it already had my key when I clicked 'Registration'.

I wonder where it has been hiding these last few years...

Sorry, but Apple forces the purchase of a new QuickTime Pro key, even if you've had previous Pro keys. QuickTime Player 7.6.6 would not take my QuickTime Pro key when trying to install on Mac OS X Lion.

Here's what the QuickTime 7.6.6 license agreement says:

"IMPORTANT NOTICE TO QUICKTIME PRO USERS:
INSTALLATION OF QUICKTIME 7 WILL DISABLE THE QUICKTIME PRO FUNCTIONALITY IN PRIOR VERSIONS OF
QUICKTIME. IF YOU PROCEED WITH THIS INSTALLATION, YOU MUST PURCHASE A NEW QUICKTIME 7 PRO KEY TO
REGAIN QUICKTIME PRO FUNCTIONALITY. AFTER INSTALLATION, VISIT www.apple.com/quicktime TO PURCHASE A QUICKTIME 7 PRO KEY."

Has anyone who posted here actually installed QuickTime 7.6.6 and actually upgraded to QT Pro 7.6.6 using their previous QuickTime Pro key? If so, how, I couldn't get it to accept my previous Pro key.

I was able to. You're sure that you have a QuickTime 7 key and not a QuickTime 6 key? The latter doesn't work with the former.
