I also noticed that the menu bar defaults to icons only, but can be changed to icons and text using Mail's menu bar under View/Customize Tool Bar. Once there you'll also note that "Bounce" is no missing as a choice. Too bad... it was one cure to stop spam, etc... not just capture it.w

Best. Hint. Ever.

That's my biggest frustration with Mail for iPad and iPhone. Conversation view is irrelevant if I can't see my end of the conversation. I usually can't remember exactly what I wrote. Now, if Apple would just integrate this into the iPad Mail app, I'd be great!

i just tried this, and it's almost too much. now every email that i look at shows me the related threads if i forwarded it, simple back and forth replies on one email, etc. it was a little overkill.

addendum----since there's also the "See more from xxxxx" link in the emails, it's pretty easy to open it up to see the replies. and the animation effect is awesome!

ok, please correct me if I'm missing something, but for me this still doesn't help the issue because my replies still don't show up in the inbox/message list..... Once I open it up, i see them yes, but that doesn't help much...

gmail is so great with this and I really just want an option that functions just as well :(...

any insight?
thanks so much
peace :)

The "See more..." link at the bottom of the emails solves this. Not sure what the issue is. You get to see all the incoming emails and then once you click the "See more..." link you see what you has responded previously. What I think is missing is MANUALLY adding an email into this thread. For example if someone else emails you about a particular conversation you were having with someone.

(For example, if I am in one discussion with my brother about planning a family vacation and then my sister shoots me an email and says "hey i hear your planning a vacation without me", that email doesn't get grouped in to the discussion with my brother.) It would be nice if you could manually add that email to the conversation. Anyone agree?

What happens a lot with my clients and vendors is they reply to an email.... then forget something and hit reply to the same email from me. This should show 2 emails in my inbox. Instead it only shows it as one email thread and I'm MISSING things. I'd rather that those two emails appear. Is there a setting I can turn on so that each response is it's own email, rather than being a "conversation."

From this site I figured out the right words to google "Turn off threaded messaging mac mail" and answered my own question! mail-->view--> turn off "organize by conversation"
Sweet! Thanks for helping me find the right thing to google!
