Normally I'd say a piece like this was more PR filler but in this case it happens to be spot on. AE 5.5 is a fantastic upgrade and offers major enhancements. CS5.5 is a little odd in that respect. Some apps have almost no change, some have minor workflow tweaks but AE CS5.5 and to a lesser extent Premiere CS5.5 are major improvements / worth the upgrade price if you buy apps individually.
Basking in the glow of iPad Retina goodness.

Would love to upgrade to AECS5.5, but the bundle I own (master) makes this massively expensive, and I have no interest in the other upgraded apps. So... not this time.

You can upgrade just AE.

I have a Master Collection also, and upgraded just my AE 5 to AE 5.5 for something like $165.00 on special at NAB.

The other apps? I'm not using Flash, I stopped using the ultra-bloated Dreamweaver, Soundbooth is a joke (Audition is a step up), etc.

AE, PS, AI, ID are key. ME is good, but I have alternatives. PP? Maybe later...

Thanks for your comments, and yes, while it is a positive review, I use AE on a daily basis and have a lot of real-world experience with it. I've been an After Effects user since pre-aldus/Adobe days int he early 90's when it was still under the "CoSA" label. Read my last full AE CS5 & CS4 reviews in the archives and you'll see that I'm not afraid to mention problems or missing features. ;)

Cheers,
Jeff Foster
