save yourself some money, this case can be bought from monoprice.com for less than $25. you can get 3 and still have some change leftover from some of these cases. i've got one and it works just fine.

Well, yeah... or you could save yourself even more money, and buy two or three of these bottom-mount batteries from Amazon:

http://www.amazon.co...duct/B0035R2QS4

At six dollars per unit, I suddenly realized that I didn't so much need a battery case after all.

The thing is, none of these little gizmos that we love to buy are really all that expensive to manufacture... it's simple supply/demand/expectations economics. People are not only willing to pay more then ten or twenty bucks for something like this... but they expect to pay more. The automatic assumption is that anything too cheap is going to be exactly that: cheap. (Luckily for spendthrifts like myself, that's not always the case... but it's always good to read user reviews whenever they are available.)

The Mophie Juice Pack Plus is very poorly made and the company does not stand behind it. The problem is the micro usb port. If a cable is plugged into it and you accidentally pull on it the internal electrical connections will break and the case will not charge or sync. Mophie replaced mine two or three times for this recurring problem until one year and a day after I bought it I had the same problem and Mophie invoked their one year warranty. Mophie did not even offer to repair it, nor were they willing to do so. I saw the reviews on Amazon and other people had the same problem with the usb port. Someone took the case apart and reported that they use glue and not solder. I used an American Express card to buy this so they extended the warranty. So if you do buy this, use a credit card with extended warrant plans. I can understand that a warranty has a specified time period. I think a reputable company would try to fix what they know to be a design defect.

I have now tried the Mophie JuicePack Plus, and the Phonesuit Elite. BOTH have had issues with the micro-usb ports. Why is it that EACH of these companies uses micro-usb when it's obviously a weak link. The jack on my Juice Pack receded into the case over 6 months and would no longer reliably create a connection. The PhoneSuit is now having the same issue after only 4 months. On top of that, the Phonesuit is NOT protective. The top pieces are VERY flimsy and both of mine have broken.

Anyone have any other suggestions on a protective, durable charging iphone 4s case?

Well I just have to say the Sol is an amazing battery backup it's a piece of crap solar charging one. It should NOT have a score of 4. They advertise it as weighing almost half of what it actually does. I live in sunny Southern California and I put my Sol on my dash in direct sunlight for TWELVE HOURS and the case barely charged one forth. At least there is an option to charge it with a cable or it'd be a complete waste of money. I left it on my dash when I flew out of town for 3 days and came back to three quarters charge. I've tested out this any light indoor or outdoor charging and left it for 5 days when I went out of town and came back to half charge. So it is NOT a solar charger, stupid panel on the back just makes it heavier. I do like the slide in ease it has so I can leave it charging the case and use my phone then slid my phone into it when I need more power. I've never found a need to turn the charging "off". It drains the Sol's battery before utilizing it's own battery. I just leave the Sol off until I actually need it then I'm good to go!

I have been through 4 Mophie Juice Pack cases & all 4 of them broke. The micro USB on the lower right side consistently breaks after 3 months of use with out fail. Unbelievable!!! I have made several attempts to inform Mophie that whatever is holding that micro USB in place needs to be more sturdy or reinforced.

While studying abroad I found the need for a way to charge my phone on the go. After some research I narrowed my choice down to the Cable Technologies Infinity battery case, and the Mophie charging barrel. The Infinity case was about $20 cheaper than it's competitor so I purchased it. After taking it home and trying to plug it in the charging port broke immediately. Luckily the store I bought it at replaced it for me free of charge. Next I took it home and charged it and I went on using my phone until its battery life dropped to about 20% so I put the Infinity case onto my phone and turned it on. After about 15 minutes the case turned off and my phone was left with a 60% charge. I was told that this case would re-charge my phone from 0% to 100% in no time and with no problems. While the phone was charging on the case it became very hot to the point where it became uncomfortable to hold. So not only did the product fail to perform its only function it also had problems with overheating and was cheaply produced. This product did so poorly that I had to invest in the Mophie charging barrel which actually charges my phone, iPad, and many other devices to a full 100%. Its such a shame that I had to waste money on a product that doesn't work. I am very disappointed by the lack of quality and over all misleading marketing of this product. I would not recommend this product for anyone who is looking for an easy and effective way to charge their devices on the go. I should have just invested in the Mophie charger in the first place, I guess you get what you pay for.

The Mophie is not high quality for being made in the USA. I got the Mophie Air Red Product(5% of each unit goes to AIDS research) After six days of ownership I plugged the Micro USB connector in and noticed it made a click and the the connector flopped around in the socket. It Quit working. I'm not ham fisted, just plugged it in. Highly disappointed. Got the Just Wireless 1400ma case. It actually charges faster and charges the iPhone faster, the downside it doesn't look like it will protect the top of the phone well should it take a spill, but the Mophie Air looks like it not take a tumble either. The upside? The Just Wireless was only 29.99 compared to Mophie's 79.99.

The Phonesuit elite is by far the best battery case ive ever had. full charger from 0 - 100 % in roughly 2 hours never had a problem with my case unlike the mophies i owned.

You forgot to mention which one of them have those proeminent edges/bevels/frame that allows the phone to be placed with the screen sided down without scratching it. This is very important, because I know the mophie plus in unsatisfatory on this aspect. Hope you agree.. Thank you!
