A ton of iPhone 4s summaries are out this morning, but his one is really complete - thanks! I think the 4s will be a huge hit for Apple. I've upgraded my 3Gs and can't wait until Friday....

It's not currently possible to change voices.

But does it have Flash?
(Just kidding)

The iPhone 4S seems to be a solid choice if you're into the iOS ecosystem. It's ironic that I was able to watch the Siri video on the 4S review on my Galaxy S II, but the iPhone itself won't play it.

Hmm. My iPhone plays the Siri video fine.

If the best feature is Siri, a program that is still in beta, what does that say about the rest of the telephone.

And yet, it doesn't support Verizon's 4G LTE network. To me, that's a dealbreaker that will keep me in my 3GS until the iPhone 5 is released next spring.

That & the fact that my upgrade price is $850 for another 7 months. This brings us close enough to what you are calling the iPhone 5.

I use a VZW iPhone 4 for my small business an ATTWS iPhone 4 for personal use. I'm nowhere near the end of my ATTWS contract but am eligible for a contract extension in January - they pushed up my upgrade about 12 months - but I'm near wit's end with the sh!tty call quality on my ATT line. My family is on ATTWS, it's the only carrier that works for my brother and mother in their rural digs (she's on my FP) but the garbling is driving me crazy. ATTWS keeps saying "it's the iPhone" but all of our ATTWS cell phones suck in the city I live in (Portland OR).

MW - Is the iPhone 4S a big step up in call quality over the iP4? It isn't the iPhone. My VZW iPhone sounds great 99% of the time. Mom can't get any other carrier to sign her up because of where she lives, even though T-Mobile (go figure) has new native HSPDA serving her town and US Cellular has a tower just 3 miles from her town. USCC and ATT give her the coverage she has to have - well, the coverage I want her to have as my dear old mom - and I'm carrying the contract, and USCC won't issue me a contract. I know that VZW roams on USCC, but their native signal is so weak where she lives cell phones blow through batteries in just a few hours, but I'm thinking of it for her (it's native USCC area so VZW won't activate a Network Extender there). If the ATTWS iP4S and it's nifty antenna don't cut it my only other option is to find an old Motorola phone running the Synergy OS and SEEM edit it to disable ATTWS beastly AMR-HR vocoder and just not have anymore ATTWS smartphones...

Odd... but the reviewer mentioned nothing about call quality. Would be nice if he mentioned something about this when he discusses the antenna :(

One observation I've made that may seem obvious to everyone else, is that Apple is keeping the number portion of the product name the same for iPhones that keep the same basic form factor. When the form factor changes noticeably, the number changes too.

Another trend, appears to be that Apple will intersperse radical and incremental changes. This makes sense to me. I don't really want to feel like I'm being left behind every time a new iPhone is launched. (Every other time is OK for me.) :)

As I said. It is probably obvious to everyone.

Thanks, Jason!

But could you share any insights regarding the bitrate Apple uses to compress 1080p video?
I wonder how much storage is used for example for 10 minutes of captured video....

It brings us close enough to next spring. There’s no guarantee that that’s when Apple will release their next phone. It’s more likely that it’d be fall of 2012.

Can Siri launch apps?

Iphone 4 users, download the Dragon Go app, it is free. It is just like Siri, but it doesn't talk to you.
Also, Dragon Go launches apps.
